About Allyiah

Shortly after graduating high school, Allyiah was offered a full ride scholarship to play softball at GateWay Community College in Phoenix, Arizona. After two years of dedication, she earned her associate degree in both disciplinaries of the Arts and Sciences and was offered the All-Arizona Academic Team Scholarship to further her studies. Allyiah transferred to Barrett, the Honors College at Arizona State University to study Biomedical Engineering, where she is a current junior in the undergraduate program. She plans on graduating the program by spring of 2025 with both her bachelor's and master's degree. So far, she has become an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for the Fulton Schools of Engineering, a student of the Barrett College Fellows Program, and has become well involved in organizations such as the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Combat Ready Robotics, Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS), and the Grand Challenges Scholars Program (GCSP).

Embedded in this portfolio you will find a vast variety of skills and experiences Allyiah has developed over time. Each have expanded her knowledge and contribution towards the innovation on health systems around the world. Examples of current projects Allyiah is working on related to health systems can be found listed in the section below. Further navigation through the portfolio will highlight areas in which Allyiah has excelled at to combat the five competencies of the Grand Challenges Scholars Program which include talent, multidisciplinary, entrepreneurship, multicultural, and social consciousness. By spring of 2025, Allyiah aspires to graduate as a member of the Grand Challenges Scholars Program with recognition from the National Academy of Engineers.

Collaborate with clinical mentors to prevent drug diversion in clinical settings & shadow physicians to address needs. Assist in design & development processes for a load cell sensor-based solution to enhance medication management

Assist in design, development, & prototyping procedures for a catheter device system targeting aortic aneurysms. Develop technical documents, testing protocols, and simulations to support product development & preclinical studies. 

Conduct & test in-depth research related to developing pH responsive hydrogels for patients with ulcerative colitis. Synthesize biomaterials through in vitro testing to optimize drug delivery properties & evaluate drug release profiles
